FAQ

  • Are the nails used to hold the urn together? Or are they just for looks? – the nails are cosmetic, and not necessary to the strength of the urn, but they are real nails and are pounded into the wood so they are contributing to the strength of the urn.
  • How do you open the urn? – All of my urns are accessed through the bottom which is held in place by four screws.
  • Does the urn need to be sealed? – No, but it is simple to do if you wish. With the urn bottom removed, simply apply a small bead of silicone around the bottom of the urn before replacing the bottom.
  • Is the companion urn large enough for 2 adults? – The companion urn has a capacity of 333 cubic inches. This is large enough to hold 2 average adults. If you are concerned that it might not be large enough, contact your crematorium or reach out to me for an over-sized option. We can easily increase the height to accommodate your needs.
  • Where is the wood from? – All of my urns are built of White Pine and was grown in Quebec, Canada
  • Do you have more carvings? – Yes! Please contact me if you would like a carving that is not listed in my Etsy shop
  • What are your “carving inserts”? – My “carving inserts” are carved from Platinum grade HDF (High Density Fibre Board) and finished with a vintage bronze appearance. They are called inserts because they are mounted in a recess in the front of the urn. This allows me to keep many more urns in stock and also ship them out to you in a timely manner
  • Are the nameplates metal? Are they weather proof? – No they will not stand up to water. They are carved from Platinum grade HDF (High Density Fibre Board) and finished with a vintage bronze appearance.
